SoBH Campaign 4 - Battle 2

Weather: Snow
Scenario: Avalanche
Defender: Everglade Forest Guardians
The scenario is a basic battle match up, with the threat of a loud noise triggering an avalanche which will move across the table, destroying everything in its path.

The table was set out as above, with frozen lakes in the centre and snowdrifts dotted about. Because of the snow the going was heavy, so every figure had it's movement decreased to short.

The First Law:

  • Tatharon (Wood Elf Archer) 50pts Q3+, C3 Special Rules Forester,Shooter: Long
  • Galadthel (Elite Wood Elf Archer) 56pts Q3+, C3 Special Rules: Forester,Shooter: Long, Unerring Aim

The elves push forward towards the enemy. The dryad with covering warrior hope to take advantage of the the ice covered lake to hamper any attacks.

The Human's also move forward, with the powerful Threetrees covering the ranged threat of The Dogman.

Galadthel tests out an aimed shot to help take advantage of her longer effective range, knocking Threetrees down.

Jazal and Logan Ninefingers move forward to meet the Everglade Forest advance party, with the human swordfighter knocking down the ginger mulleted Anlyth.

But the copper haired one is soon back on his feet while his comrades back him up. The first attack knocks Jazal to the ground...
...and the follow up gruesomely kills him.

The human's death screams echo round the landscape and trigger an avalanche, it's path destined to roll over the entire available terrain.

The humans regroup whilst edging away from the avanlanche.

The elves do likewise, always facing their foe.

Despite the threat of the snow-slide the two groups are never far apart.

Dogman moves forward to lay down some ranged support for a human advance. Not only does he miss but is distracted by the Dryad, giving Thatharon an advantageous shooting opportunity. The elf takes it and takes Dogman out of the battle.

Meanwhile, the avalanche is slowly still advancing.

Two kills down the humans need to be bold. Threetrees and Ninefingers rush round the elf flank to attack the leader, Galan. The Elves hurriedly try to defend the attack, but such was the unexpected swiftness to the move all they can do is get into a helping position and transfix the Human muscle man.

Ninefingers makes an attack and knocks down Galan. Threetrees shakes off the transfix, attacks and kills the Forest Guardian leader.

Such was the speed of events the elves break as their leader goes down.

But they recover as one to turn and face their foe with numbers.

The First Law skilfully manoeuvre round the ruins though to evade being stuck between a wall of elves on one side and of ice and snow on the other. The avalanche finally covers the land and the warbands are forced to disperse.

Battle Outcome:

  • Humans: 5 kill VPs and 12 Survivor VPs = 17 VP
  • Elves: 3 Kill VPs and 15 Survivor VPs = 18 VP
An Everglade Forest Guardian Win
